MIDDLE ROAD RESIDENCE

Palm Beach, Florida

The renovation of this historic 1921 house included the removal of the existing southern loggia and courtyard. In its place, a new family room wing was added which includes a great room with a new loggia facing East. To the West of the great room, a kitchen/breakfast wing was added and a new courtyard was created in the same location as the previous. The new East loggia was extended with a swimming pool and book-ended with a new pool cabana. The facades of the cabana and main residence are situated in symmetry across the pool, and are both similar in design, strengthening the architecture. The addition was designed in a style in keeping with the existing residence’s important Addison Mizner design.
